Wabi-Sabi

Wabi-Sabi means

More than you think it might mean

Let trees be your guide

Oh Iggy, you beautiful creature!

The 85mm is perfect for bringing out that winning smile in the dim light.

Depth-Of-Field Trip

A swarm of students on a field trip.

This has become one of my favorite images over the past few months since it was shot. The blurred faces in various planes bring your own focus back to the girl who is clearly somewhere else.

I think we’ve all been there.

Japanese Maples

I seem to have a fascination with trees.

It’s understandable. This lens makes every one of them look like the work art that they are.

Rapt

Raptors are intense.

I would not want to be a mouse anywhere within a half-mile of that gaze.

Red

With a giant aperture, the depth of field is unforgivably small, but the the reward is razor sharpness when focus is achieved.

Every thread, every whisker, every wrinkle captured in grand detail.

Bokeh

The Japanese gave us the word bokeh

They also gave us the beautiful bokeh of the Canon EF 85mm f/1.2 L II USM lens.

Thank you, Japan.

Orange

I would carry this lens to the ends of the world with me.

And I have.

Henry

I take an awful lot of pictures of my cats. This is Henry:

It gets tricky when all you have to work with is some light streaming in the windows from behind him.

But with my favorite fat little lens in hand Henry floats effortlessly in a dreamlike pool of illumination.
